The Story of Tea bags - Origin, when & where it invented

- Papa, It's ten now. Hurry up, and I can't wait to hear today's story - excited Firouz climbed to stairs quickly.

- Mind your step, little boy! - said Joe - Did you brush your teeth?

- Papa, I did brush my teeth, washed my face, and Miss-Your-Leah changed me into the bed suit. Come on, Papa, I will tell Captain Sinbad about your slow-going - Firouz started to complain since he saw his Papa did not move his eyes out from the news on TV - PAPA Joeyyyy !!

- Okay, crew, Papa will be there in one more minute. Just prepare yourself for the next adventure. - Joe stood up and followed his son to the bed. - Don't forget to kiss Mom goodnight before you go to bed, Firouz!

- I am so much ready, Papa - Smiled Firouz - Good night, mama. I love you as much I love ice cream - He kissed his mother Leah - And, would you mind if you take me to Haagen Daaz tomorrow?

- What an ice-cream boy! - Leah kissed Firouz - Enjoy your nighttime. Mama loves you - Firouz went to his room after saying goodbye to his mom in the reading room.

It's ten by night; Firouz and his Papa peacefully lie on the bed.

- What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word tea? – Little boy asked his Papa

- Hmmm, I think tea is the right arm of the "Favorite drink" body, as coffee is the left - answered Papa Joe.

- What a good comparison, Papa! As my point, I think of the name of tea, such as Oolong tea, Black tea, ...

- and an English tea bag in the afternoon, right? - Papa continued his son

- I think so, Papa. I will ask you a question; do you prefer to know more about fresh leaf tea or tea bags? - said, Firouz

- I guess I would prefer a tea bag though I have more interested in coffee. Mrs.Leah loves tea more than me – Papa Joe made a decision.

- So, crew mate. Today's bedtime story is about The Story of Tea bags. You can learn about its origin and when and where it was invented. - Joe started to play as a scientist narrator. – Do you agree?

- We will talk about the History of teabag first. Firstly, Firouz, what is a tea bag? – continued Joe

- Hmmm, Papa, a teabag is Mama's Black Lipton tea. She often drinks at 3 in the afternoon. - answered by Firouz.

- Haha, it is an example of tea bags. Lipton is one of the biggest tea bag suppliers in the world. Papa will explain to you more about the definition of tea bags.

THE DEFINITION OF TEA BAGS

Tea bags are small sealed bags, porous in nature, which typically hold either whole tea leaves or ground tea leaves, or the leaves of other herbs, which are immersed in water to steep and make an infusion. Initially used only for teas (Camellia sinensis), they are now made with other tisanes (herbal teas).

THE FIRST TEA BAG WAS INVENTED BY ACCIDENT

Nowadays, the tea bag is commonly used. The tea bag was only invented in the early 20th century. There is some debate over who created the first tea bag. According to one of the most well-known urban tales, American tea importer Thomas Sullivan sent samples of his product in silk pouches in 1908. He didn't intend for his clients to put them in hot water,  but they discovered that it was simpler to boil the tea with the leaves still contained in the porous bags.

The first tea bags were sown together. As it evolved, glue was also used to seal the bags, which influenced the tea taste and had no more benefit.

Later, Adolf Rambold created the first tea bag packing machine in 1929 for the German business Teekanne. In 1930, William Hermanson received a patent for the heat-sealed paper fiber tea bag. This method crimped the sides of the tea bag together with heat or stapled them. It took until 1944 for the now-common rectangular tea bag to be created. Tea bags formerly resembled little sacks.
The so-called "flo-thru" bag has four sides instead of two. It was designed for brewing in mugs rather than tiny teacups and was developed by the Lipton Tea Company in 1952.

Then, when the 1950s hit, when products making everyday household tasks easier began becoming all the rage, the tea bag saw a massive surge in popularity and, for the first time, started gaining traction in the United Kingdom.

Amidst heavy marketing, Tetley launched the round tea bag in 1992. It was more of a visual change than a functional one.

- Firouz, this picture is shown about Tea-bag Revolution through many years. What do you think boy?

- Yes Papa, there are many shapes of teabags. I like round one!

- It takes lots of skill to make it beautiful. Then, the manufacturers refer to the square more.

Overall, until now, a tea bag's basic form hasn't changed all that much. The double pouch and stringless square and circular bags are the most popular. To accommodate even long leaf tea inside a tea bag and provide a superior infusion, pyramid-shaped tea bags are now also available.

HOW POPULAR TEA BAGS ARE

The British consume more of their tea through tea bags than Americans! A whopping 96% of their tea is prepared using tea bags, according to the UK Tea & Infusions Association. On the other hand, in the United States, 51% of tea drinkers said they used only tea bags. 20% said they used mainly tea bags, according to a 2019 survey by Statista. Furthermore, tea bags are widely used in India, Japan, and elsewhere.
The simple teabag has required no modification since its invention a century ago — and a century from now, it’s a safe bet we’ll be brewing our cuppa the same way.
As John Harney of Harney & Sons once said, all a teabag needs to be lifted to perfection is “furiously boiling water” and five minutes steeping — “no more, no less.

- Firouz. Is it too many numbers for you? - Papa Joe suddenly turned to his son and found out that the little boy had fallen asleep - Well, it sounds too boring to you. - Papa Joe kissed Firouz's cheek and left the room. - Papa promises to bring you more exciting stories next time. Goodnight, boy!

In the reading room, Joe met his wife.

- Firouz fell asleep before I finished my story. Hmm, I think that Firouz did not care about today's story.

- Well, what is the topic today? - Leah stopped to read and asked.

- Tea bag. I told him about its origin, time, and place its invented.

- Just like the coffee topic last week - Leah smiled - I don't think that he has no interest in your story. He had lots of running activities today, so he fell asleep because he was tired.

- Hmm. I would share with Firouz more about the battle between Tea-bag and Traditional Leaves Tea - Joe looked sad.

- It doesn't matter, honey. Let's continue tomorrow! So now, it's "we time." How was your day, honey? - Leah put her head on her husband's shoulder and gently held his hands

The night is safe and sound in the red-roofed house. Three people in the house were sleeping peacefully. Little Firouz dreamed he was one of Sullivan's customers to try out the first silk pouch tea bags in the world. He smiled.

The evolution of tea bags has come a long way over the years. Today, they continue to serve their purpose of offering a convenient way to have tea. They come in various sizes, shapes, and materials. Beyond drinking, people also use tea bags for dark eye circles, absorbing odors, and soothe sunburns.

In conclusion, whether you use tea bags or loose leaves: We are firm believers that the tea you love, prepared how you love it, is great.
